Lots of Fish In-between the Waves

Report Date: March 27, 2014

Sailfish, mahi, kingfish and bonito this morning. With a cold front in town, I told my customers it will be a little choppy and cold, but they said they were ready for it. So, we headed east out Port Everglades Inlet, and then north, to the Steeple. We started in 100' drifting southeast with the wind pushing us deeper. In 120', we caught a kingfish. In 150', we got into a school of bonito and caught 4 on live pilchards, using ultralight tackle. Then in 180', we caught 3 nice mahi - after which, we never got another bite. We came back inside and stayed around 100' and caught another king and missed a few more. Then the bite slowed, but just before the end of the trip, we caught a nice sailfish on a flat lined pilchard. Nice way to end the trip!

Tight lines and good luck to everyone,

Capt. Mario Cote
