Fish at all Depths
Report Date: January 11, 2016
We've been pretty busy during the holiday season. We've fished every day for the past 3 weeks, but now with some off days, I can tell you a little bit about fishing around Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood area fishing. We fished with some very nice people from all over Canada and the United States, and I'd like to thank all of you for coming with us - we had a great time fishing with all of you.
We also did some full-day trips that gives us a chance to try and do more. We started on top and did very well with 2 to 3 sailfish, some kingfish, and some mahi. We also anchored on some area wrecks and did very good catching multiple amberjack, shark, bonito and black grouper. But now it's closed season for grouper, so if we catch any, we must make sure that they go back down vented and healthy.
We had some very windy conditions and rough water, but customer wanted to go and it paid off. We had a lot of people that caught their first sailfish with us. Every day-trip, we go out we make sure that before leaving Port Everglades Inlet that we have live google eyes for our kite baits, as they provide a very good success rate. We also love to use live pilchards - on many trips those small baits save the day.
We always work very hard for our customers and we love to catch nice and big fish, but we have had some very slow days lately, where we had to work twice as much and only caught a few fish, but some were pretty big fish and made happy customer. Hopefully the next cold front will improve fishing.
Until next time, good luck and tight lines!
