Cold Fronts & Kite Fishing

Report Date: October 29, 2017

I'm very excited to see drop in temperatures. And with the first cold fronts coming our way in South Florida, this means better fishing for the coming month of November - here in Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale.

As just an example, our last trip right after the front we fished a little south of Port Everglades in 100’ of water and caught 1 out of 2 sailfish, and 3 nice mahi-mahi in just a few hours of fishing. Mahi-mahi fishing has been pretty good and steady the last couple months but we had to go offshore to find them. But now with some northeast winds, we can catch them much closer, on the reefs.

I like to mention that our water has not been the best on the reef, but we’ve still been staying close and catching a good variety of fish. One day we caught a very nice wahoo in very dirty water, and also caught sailfish.

Personally, I love November. We usually have very nice weather and fishing is usually very good. This is also the time of year when we start to kite fish a lot more and there's a better chance at catching sailfish, tuna, kingfish, mahi-mahi and some wahoo as well and much more!

Until next time, good luck and tight lines!
